RUSHVILLE — Moscow Christian Church

Moscow Christian Church will host a High School Youth Group Kick-off Super Bowl Party at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 3 with the game being shown on a big screen TV. This event is open to all area youth.

Manna Mission meal

The Manna Mission Meal will be served from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at Main Street Christian Church. The menu is chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, broccoli and cheese, rolls and dessert. All who are in need of a hot meal are welcome to partake. We serve eat-in and carry-out meals. We also have some winter clothing (mostly adult) available for those in need.

Prayer service

The Rush County Commissioners recently approved a request for a non-denominational prayer meeting at 7:15 a.m. Tuesdays in the Commissioners Room on the first floor of the Rush County Courthouse.

The impromptu gathering will last approximately 45 minutes, until 8 a.m. The gathering is to be held weekly on a trial basis for three months. It is open to the general public.

The Gathering

This Sunday, Jan. 27, at 3 p.m., the family friendly movie “UP” will be showing at The Gathering, 245 N. Main, Rushville. Popcorn and soda will be provided. Please feel free to bring your favorite pillow, sleeping bag or camp chair. The “admission” is one canned good for the Rush County Food Pantry. Everyone is welcome.

The Gathering offers free WiFi and is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. Stop in for a cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate. A “flavor of the day” coffee is always available. Fresh baked cookies and scones are ready for you to enjoy.

reNEW, the clothing shop is open the same hours and is located in the back of The Gathering. reNEW takes clean, gently used clothing and items can be donated during hours of operation.

Glenwood Church of Christ

Join us for a “Souper Sunday,” Feb. 3, to meet our new minister David Bonne. Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m. with Worship Service at 10:30 a.m. Soup, salad, dessert bar to follow at Glenwood Church of Christ.

Faith Baptist Church - Morristown

Dr. Wayne Scott, pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Morristown, is teaching a series during Sunday school on “Tragedy and Triumph: A Study of Job” at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 27, followed by the morning worship service at 10:30 a.m. Following the pitch-in lunch at noon the afternoon worship service will be held at 12:45 p.m.

Sunday, Feb. 3, will be a “SOUP-ER BOWL” pitch-in lunch with a variety of soups, chili and the works following the morning worship service.

The Good News Clubs will begin on Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Morristown Elementary after school. Registration forms are available in the school office or by calling the church at (765) 763-7657.

Sunday, Feb. 10, The evening small group Bible study is in various homes in the community and no afternoon worship service. The sign up sheet is on the organ bench in the sanctuary.

Plum Creek Christian Church

Do you have a giant in your life? The thing in our lives that is bigger than we can take on. Like resentment, fear, depression, alcoholism. The list is endless and we all confront them. They appear big because we can’t defeat them on our own. Only with God’s help can we bring them down.

Samson had his giant and his was name was Goliath (I Samuel 17). In this story there is a lot more at stake than just a little man defeating a big man. This is a picture of the great struggles that are taking place in our lives right now.

These giants distract us; detour us; and drain us of being everything God intends for us to be. The problems we face are the platform where God can show how wonderful He is. Just recall all the battles that God has brought you through to this point in your life.

Do you see your giants as problems or possibilities? David brought Goliath down because he knew his God was bigger than Goliath. Are you willing to let the giant in your life define who you are or who your God is?
