“Who would have ever thought?” You might ask yourself that question when you see someone unlikely do something extraordinary. Scratching your head, you think, “I never would have guessed!” What if that unlikely person was you? “I could never do anything extraordinary,” you say. “I’m not smart or gifted, I don’t have much influence on others, and when it comes down to it, I’m no one special.” Maybe people around even agree!

I, on the other hand, disagree...and so does God. He tells us in the Bible that He uses the most unlikely people to do the most extraordinary things for His purposes-and that includes you! Would you like to know more about this? Come to First Baptist Church at 9:30 a.m. this Sunday and join some other unlikely people as we journey together.

“RAISING KIDS YOU’LL LIKE” is the title of a Parenting Workshop, sponsored by Center Christian Church, on April 11, 2014.

The balancing act of loving on their kids and teaching them to become good people challenges parents every day. Unfortunately, there is no easy, foolproof formula for raising kids. But there are practical, biblical principles that can help make sense out of the important job of parenting. This seminar will offer ideas and resources for you to be able to guide your kids to maturity and still preserve a warm, fun, and loving relationship with them.

The workshop will take place at Center Christian Church on Friday, April 11, 2014. There will be pizza served from 5:15 – 6 p.m. Child care for infants through children 10 years of age will be available beginning at 5:45 p.m. The Parenting Workshop will begin at 6 p.m., ending at 8 p.m., and will be held in the Worship Center.

The guest speaker will be Verna Weber, who has spent her adult life studying families and family life. Her own family includes her husband, two children, their spouses, and five fun grandchildren.

Verna has served with her husband in church ministry, campus ministry, and as urban missionaries in Johannesburg, South Africa. She spent 20 years as a college and seminary professor in the areas of family studies, human development, family ministry, and missions. She is now a consultant and presenter on marriage, parenting, children’s spirituality, and child safety.

Who’s your master?

“No one can serve two masters; you cannot serve both God and money.” This is what the scripture says in Matthew 6:24. It’s easy to fall into the trap of comparing ourselves to others, but it will only leave you empty.

Stress and money go hand in hand. USA Today did an article learning that 66% of people worry about money more than any other subject.

It leaves us wanting more, never being satisfied. It’s hard to be generous when we concentrate on ourselves.

Please join us at PCCC as we learn more of what our Father in Heaven has to say about every aspect of our lives. God Bless!
