RUSHVILLE — Plum Creek Christian Church

Last week we heard about Jesus coming to Jerusalem on what we call Palm Sunday. The Jewish people were headed there to celebrate the Passover Feast. By the sound of the crowd it seemed as though this was the king they were waiting for. They were hoping for a great military leader who would conquer Rome and set them free. But wait. Hear comes Jesus riding on a donkey. Not a huge white horse. Is this the way a king should arrive?

Jesus, the King of Kings choose a different way to save. He came to set people free from sin. He came to bring eternal salvation. No earthy king can do that. Jesus, unlike the spiritual leaders of his day, was not bound by their man-made religious rules. Jesus was bound by the highest authority, God Almighty!

The religious leaders were so upset that the people wanted Jesus as their king they plotted  his death. They were so blinded by rules they missed the awaited hour of the Messiah.

Are you too blinded by all the bells and whistles of this world that you have missed the truth of who Jesus is? Don’t miss your day of deliverance and salvation. This Sunday is the conclusion of our observance of Holy Week. As we reflect on what this is all about.

Remember this. Jesus was crucified for our sins so we may be saved from eternal damnation. The choice is yours. Come to Jesus. Celebrate His resurrection this Sunday! He lives! The tomb is empty. We have much to celebrate!
