---- — Hi, all you kind folks in Readership Land.
In my scrampin’ about, at night, I’ve come across “ oodles and oodles” of Christmas Cards of years past and present. There were; bows and bells, Bibles and candles, churches and houses, trees and stars, angels and birds, a donkey and manger, poi-setties[poinsettas]. Wait a minute! MERCY! A donkey? Yes, a little donkey. Upon peering closer I read...adjusting “me speck-a-teckles”...here’s what the card read: “Just a Little Donkey.”
Just a little donkey, but on my back I bore, The one and only Savior the world was waiting for....Just a little donkey, but I was strong and proud-I carried Mary through the chaos of the crowd....I brought her to a stable where she made a tiny bed....A place for Baby Jesus to lay His little head....I pray the world remembers that special Christmas night when just a little donkey carried Heavens Precious Light.
Mercy! That makes for a beautiful expression of love. I also know of an English children carol titled, “The Friendly Beasts.” There is one stanza goes, “I”, said the donkey, shaggy and brown. “I”, carried His mother up hill and down,. “I”, carried her safely to Bethlehem town, “I”, said the donkey, shaggy and brown.
You know, the Bible doesn’t mention what mode of travel Joseph and Mary took going to Bethlehem. Mary being great with child would have had a long walk. I’d like to think that a little donkey bore her through those crowds to find rest in a stable for the birth of our Savior as it is written in Luke 2.
Then, Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” - John 8:12 NKJV.
Kind folks, please remember the local food pantries this time of the year and donate in whatever way you can. They’re such good and kind folks.
Until the next time. May the Light of Love and Life shine brightly in your heart.
