Plum Creek Christian Church
If we are honest with ourselves, the church Paul is addressing in Ephesus is not much different than the churches of today. At church the believers in Ephesus were acting one way while during the week quite another. What do non-believers see when they look at you? Do you live like a Christian only on Sunday. Other people are watching those of us who go to church. They are quick to point out if we are acting like hypocrites. We
should live so their words won’t have any weight when they start to criticize how we live.
We were once dead in our sins when we lived like those who don’t know Jesus as Savior. But once we gave our heart to Christ we were made alive! This does not mean we will never sin. The difference is before Jesus we were slaves to our sins. After Jesus we have been set free from a life riddled with sinful choices. The choice is ours each day to decide whether we will feed the sinful desires or obey what the Word of God tells us. C.S. Lewis sums this up perfectly, “We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.”
We need to be whole hearted men and women for Christ. Let’s leave the old way of life behind. We are a new creation in Christ! Let’s get up and grow up and live the life Jesus gave his life for. We can be victorious and show others the way to abundant life. Visit with us this Sunday to hear more about the truth of the Bible.
