Carthage Wesleyan Church

Our Sunday morning message at Carthage Wesleyan Church was delivered by Assistant Pastor Tim Hensley. He preached a message out of Revelation chapter 1. Jesus tells John that "I am the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the Ending." Assistant Pastor Hensley spoke of how Jesus was there in the beginning with God and how all things are created for him. He also explained how Jesus is the ending, and on that day when the Father stands it will be Jesus who comes on clouds of glory to take His children home. The morning service was closed with the song “The Alpha and Omega.”

Sunday night Assistant Pastor Doug Stroud preached a message from Galatians 5. He spoke of the fruit of the spirit and as he handed fruit out he spoke of how bad it would be if he was giving out rotten fruit. He compared this with the fruit that many of us as Christians hand out. He encouraged the congregation to walk in the Spirit and to put forth good fruit so that the world can see Jesus in your daily walk with him.

We would like to invite everyone to come join us here at Carthage Wesleyan Church for powerful praise and worship and sound biblical teaching. Here you are only a stranger once.

St. Mary Catholic Church

Special candles were given to family members during the Cemetery Mass Nov. 1 at Calvary Cemetery, of those who have died over the past year. If you were not able to attend the Cemetery Mass, your candle may be picked up at the parish office during regular business hours. During November, the church remembers all the people who have died, especially those during the past year. A “Remembrance Book” has been placed near the tabernacle to write the names of your deceased relatives and friends. These people and those who have died will be remembered throughout the month of November.

The St. Mary Youth Group will have a bake sale after all Masses on Nov. 14 and 15. All proceeds will go towards helping fill Thanksgiving baskets for the St. Mary Food Pantry. Please support our youth and their efforts. Attention all youth group participants: We need baked goods for our bake sale on Nov. 14 and 15. We also need volunteers after all Masses to sell the goods.

We will meet at 4 p.m. Nov. 15 to fill Thanksgiving baskets with non-perishable goods. Please contact Lori Hoeing (932-3037 or 561-3185) or Debbie Banks (932-5958) if you can help or donate to bake sale.

Children’s Christmas Eve Liturgy will be at 4 p.m. Dec. 24. If you are interested in helping with this special Mass, please call Mrs. Hasecuster at school.
