Peace Corps volunteer to speak at Sexton Christian Church
Brian Dunn will speak at 10:45 a.m. June 8 at Sexton Christian Church. He will talk about his experiences as a Peace Corps volunteer in Uganda. He’ll also discuss his upcoming bike ride across America.
The public is invited to attend. Sexton Christian Church is located north of Rushville off of SR 3 on 600 N.
Dunn has lived in Uganda for the past two years as a Peace Corps volunteer working with Compassion International, a Christian child advocacy ministry.
While in Uganda, Dunn has worked to build a community center for 285 orphans and vulnerable children. The Center provides health care; pays for school fees, uniforms and supplies; develops income generating activities; facilitates educational, health, spiritual and economic teaching and provides socio-emotional support to the children once a week.
The Peace Corps volunteer is planning to bike from the East Coast of the United States to the West Coast to raise funds for the building project and Compassion International.
After the talk, Dunn’s family and friends will meet at Flatrock Grill for lunch and fellowship.
Donations for the project may be mailed to PCCH, 1000 State Street, West Lafayette IN 47906. Write “Bike for Compassion” in the memo line.
