Members of the Milroy Monday Study Circle met Feb. 25, at the Historical Society Museum in Greensburg.
A very interesting program on the Davis Family Journals was presented by Lois Carroll McCormack assisted by Charity Mitchell. The journals, which span the years from 1884 to 1932, were written by Lura Barton Davis who lived on a farm near Milroy. Mrs. Barton very vividly describes her daily life as well as special events, such as picnics, visiting lecturers and travels. The journals are a valuable source for learning about the daily life of farm women before and after the turn of the century.
As Ms. McCormack reads each journal she makes notes of interesting facts, names, places, etc. Eventually the journals will be displayed with excerpts printed on display cards.
Members enjoyed a lively discussion following the program, especially about descendants and relationships to people who still live in the area.
Following the program a delicious assortment of quickbreads and teas were served by the hostess, Marti Mullis.
