Rushville Republican

RUSHVILLE — Rush County Extension club members of Homemakers On the Go reported to the Henry Henley Public Library in Carthage two hours previous to meeting time Sept. 25 to help out with fall cleaning needs at the building used each month for club meetings.

After collectively pitching in with elbow grease and brooms and mops, a light meal was served to members by co-hostesses Judy Neal and Patty Bundy.

The meeting opened with reciting of the Homemakers Creed.

Members answering roll call by telling the name of a childhood best friend were Abby Wehr, Rita Leisure, Marsha Westerfeld, Claire Mercer, Carolyn Lewis, Judy Barnes, Patty Bundy, Judy Neal, and guest, Pat Purcell.  President Abby Wehr thanked members for all the work done before the meeting began.

Treasurer’s report was presented by Rita Leisure who confirmed that the proceeds from the club yard sale and bake sale will be donated to needs of the Henry Henley Public Library.

Cultural Arts chair Claire Mercer showed some beautiful hand-cut Chinese figures from a friend who made many trips to China. These traditionally stood for good luck and prosperity.

The lesson “Raising Children in Today’s World” was presented by Judy Neal.

The bid gift was won by Rita Leisure.

It was announced that the November meeting will be moved up to Nov. 13 due to the holidays. It will be a pitch-in stressing recipes with frugality in mind as well as good taste.

Refreshments were served.
