RUSHVILLE — Chapter 0813 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees met on Sept. 18 at the Ponderosa Steakhouse in Greensburg for its monthly meeting. President Eva Stone opened the meeting by welcoming those present followed by Kay Hineman leading the group with the Pledge of Allegiance and the invocation.

For the monthly program, members took turns telling about their jobs and personal tidbits about themselves. Our chapter members had several different career areas, most members were employed by the US Postal

Service with jobs ranging from postmaster, positions within the post office itself to rural and city mail carriers with many interesting stories to go with those jobs. Other career areas included members working for the FBI in Washington DC and a member working as a congressional staffer in Washington DC. We had members working for Federal judges in Indianapolis and with the Bankruptcy Court in Indianapolis. Members that worked with the Farm Services Agency and one member with Naval Electronics that was in Indianapolis. There were several members that worked at the Finance Center in Indianapolis in various positions and at the Post Headquarters at Fort Harrison that was in Indianapolis. One member worked at Fort Sill, Okla., moving to Fort Bliss, Texas, and retiring from there. Members also worked as Army Reserve Technicians at the Fort Harrison Army Reserve Complex in Indianapolis and one member worked at the VA hospital in San Diego, Calif. Our members have served in many branches of government across the country and have many qualifications from theirs careers.

President Stone followed with a business meeting with the secretary’s report being read and approved and with other office and committee reports given.

Attendance prize was won by Lillian Jones. Birthdays of Rita Emsweller and William Hanneman and Kay Hineman’s father’s birthday (103 years old) and Richard Wagner’s parents’ anniversary of 69 years were acknowledged.

The next meeting will be at 10 a.m., Oct. 16 at Ponderosa Steakhouse in Greensburg with optional lunch following the meeting.
