RUSHVILLE — The Carthage Literary Club held their regular monthly meeting June 10, at the Carthage Community Center. There were ten members and two guests present: Bob and Barbara Proctor, Tom and Claire Mercer, Marlin and Mardell Wilson, Jim and Judy Neal, Mary Nigh, Patty Tribby and guests Pat Purcell and Joanna Bush were in attendance.

Barbara Proctor gave a very interesting book review on “Growing up Rich in Vernon, Indiana” which was written by Carol Spurlock Layman. This book contains entertaining stories from 1940-1950 about unique personalities and places in Vernon, which lies along the Muscatatuck River. Ms. Proctor read several humorous and colorful passages which were enjoyed by all.

The next meeting will be Monday, July 8, at 6:30 p.m. at the Carthage Community Center and everyone is welcome to attend.
