Rush Co. Master Gardeners and Friends will have their monthly meeting on July 10 at Garden Thyme at the Old Schoolhouse located at 14520 SR 38 E., Noblesville. The Master Gardeners and Friend’s program begins at 6:30 p.m. Owner Kim Porter will do a program on succulents and you are welcome to bring a pot or container and fill it there. (Buy the plants and pay a small fee for potting mix for your container.) Anyone interested in gardening is welcome to join us. There will be a car pool from the Root Building at the Rush County Fairgrounds leaving at 5:15 p.m.
“My husband and I purchased this beautiful two-room schoolhouse in the Summer of 1998. In April 2002 we opened a small seasonal garden center,” notes Porter. They planned to use the profits from the garden center for the restoration of the schoolhouse.
“Finally after eight years of saving, we have started the restoration of the old schoolhouse. Unfortunately, we cannot afford new slate for the roof, but we are redoing the roof just like it was one hundred and twelve years ago with asphalt shingles,” she writes on their website at pinkpeppercorn.com
Porter continues, “Our roofing contractor, (MRC) Myers Roofing Contractors of Noblesville is doing a great job and within our budget. Our friend and neighbor, Scott Broady is helping us with the brick work. Special thanks, to all of our loyal customers, for helping us make this happen!”
