Rushville Republican

RUSHVILLE — Chapter 0813 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees met on Oct. 16 at the Ponderosa Steakhouse in Greensburg for its monthly meeting.

President Eva Stone opened the meeting by welcoming those present followed by Kay Hineman leading the group with the Pledge of Allegiance and the invocation.

For the monthly program, President Stone introduced Barbara Burge from Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield for the updates for the yearly open season for health insurance. Of course, which has become the normal, rates for most insurers are increasing for 2013. As for BC/BS there are some changes which Ms Burge reviewed, but for the complete list, policy holders will have to review them on the internet site. Ms Burge received several questions from members and had answers for most. Rates for Medicare and deductibles for 2013 are not known at this date. Changes to Medicare and health insurance for the future 2 to 3 years are unknown at this time.  Thanks to Ms Burge for her program.

President Stone followed with a business meeting with the secretary and treasurer reports being read and approved and with other office and committee reports given.

Attendance prize was won by Paul Rosfeld. Birthdays of Lillian Jones and Paul Rosfeld were acknowledged. Anniversary of Joan and Jack Fix, 61 years, was acknowledged. Of special note for one of our members, Andrea Wagner from Batesville, will have her handmade chenille bags included in the goody packs to be given out at the “Country Music Awards” program. Congratulations to Andrea.

The next meeting will be at 10 a.m. Nov. 20 at the Ponderosa Steakhouse in Greensburg with optional lunch following the meeting.
