Rush County Community Assistance Christmas bag program needs your help

Rushville Republican

RUSHVILLE — As the holidays quickly approach, the Rush County Community Assistance is planning their client Christmas bags. “Our wish is to provide each client with a generous Christmas bag along with their monthly choices.

The need for food assistance continues to increase in Rush County. We have new clients every time we are open, along with those who visit every four weeks. During 2012, we have provided supplemental groceries to over 8,500 household members. One third are aged 0-17 years! The children are dependent on nourishment provided by schools and our 501(C-3) agency. The ‘food insecure’ are 1 in 5 nationwide and in Rush County,” say organizers.

RCCA’s goal of 350 Christmas bags will cost approximately $3,800. “We are dependent on the kindness of financial support from our community. RCCA hopes you will find this project one you will be proud to support.” said Sally Barnes, food procurement chair. Don Heller serves as RCCA president.

Contributions are welcome to Community Assistance Food Pantry, 109 E. Third St., Rushville. They may be reached by e-mail at

“We hope you will choose to be a part of our Christmas project for Rush County families,” organizers added.
