Girl Scouts earn Bronze Award

Rushville Republican

RUSHVILLE — Ten members of Girl Scout Junior Troop #01973 have recently been awarded their Girl Scout Bronze award.

The Bronze Award is the highest and most prestigious nationally recognized award that a Girl Scout Junior may earn.

To receive the award the Girl Scout must meet national requirements that help them prepare for, and complete, a special project benefiting their community.

Troop #01973 chose the Rushville Animal Shelter as their service project.

During this program year the Scouts have donated items to the shelter on a monthly basis.

Earning the Bronze Award requires hands-on work; after determining the needs of the Animal Shelter the Troop dedicated many service hours to painting the interior kennels and making much needed doggy beds.

The girls will be honored in Indianapolis at the 2013 Girls of Distinction Celebration in early June.

Congratulations to these girls who are striving to make the world a better place!
