INFBPW(Indiana Federation of Business & Professional Women’s Clubs, Inc.) Knightstown had the September meeting at Sugarbakers in Knightstown on Sept. 16 with INFBPW/Knightstown officers as hostesses.
Tina Williams, president, presided at the meeting. Discussion was held about having a Dinner Theater as a fundraiser later this year. More information will be presented at the October meeting. New program books were distributed.
Barbara Mofield, INFBPW/District 2 director and INFBPW executive director, presented the program about INFBPW for 2013-2014. Joyce Nessel’s theme is “Step Into Your Future with INFBPW”. She is looking to revitalize INFBPW in the locals and district.
Fall Conference will be Oct. 18-20, 2013 at the Clarion Hotel in Columbus and will be a 50’s theme. Barbara Mofield will be INFBPW/Knightstown candidate for “Pink Lady” for the Queen Rizzo contest. Donations are $1 per vote for the competition.
Barbara discussed the Student Program which is for students from 18-24, enrolled in an accredited college or university. The Youth of Achievement is presented to a student in grades 9-12 and is based on community service, not academics or athletics. Anyone can nominate a student for the Youth of Achievement award and it will be awarded at State Convention in April, 2014.
The Reality Store ® program is presented at many local schools to middle school students. Recently schools are doing the program again for juniors as they prepare for college or work force.
Young Working Adult program will have a competition at State Convention, April 25-27, 2014 at Holiday Inn in Fort Wayne.
The 8th Grade Essay Contest is for any 8th grade student to write an essay. Participation can be a great asset toward college transcripts or a writing career. This years topic is “Whose Footsteps Would I Like to Follow and Why?” The program is sponsored by Indiana Women’s Education Foundation, Inc (IWEF) in conjunction with The Connie Richards Youth Fund. Essays and completed form must be postmarked by Dec. 2, 2013.
District 2 Fall Meeting will be Nov. 16, 2013 at Elmhurst in Connersville with INFBPW/Connersville as hosts.
