RUSHVILLE — The Milroy Research Literary Club met March 12, at the home of Carolyn Cleland. Nancy Leising presented an excellent review of the book, Proof of Heaven, by Eben Alexander, M.D. Dr. Alexander is a neurosurgeon, a graduate of Duke University Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. He spent 15 years on the faculty of Harvard Medical School. At the age of 54 he suddenly became critically ill and was diagnosed with a severe case of bacterial meningitis. During the time he was in a coma he journeyed into the afterlife. Following his recovery he felt a duty or calling to tell others about his near-death experience and what he saw beyond the body and beyond the earth. His book relates his experience in a vivid, detailed manner and is a testament to his profound spiritual transformation.

The minutes were given by Pat Carrigan, secretary, and the treasurer’s report by Carolyn Cleland. Roll call was answered by members who either showed a memento or described an experience that was meaningful to them. Members were reminded that the Easter cheer committee will fill Easter baskets on Saturday morning, March 23 at the Milroy Methodist Church. Preliminary plans were made for the club’s Guest Night which will be held on Tuesday, May 14. The meeting adjourned following collection of the rainy day fund and the recitation of the collect.

The next meeting will be at the home of Gail Simbro and Pat Carrigan will present the program.

Delicious refreshments were served by the hostess.
