Members of the Homemakers On-the-Go Home Extension Club of Carthage met at the Henry Henley Library on the fourth Tuesdays of March and April. On May 21, they hosted a pitch-in picnic for husbands and guests at the Fletcher United Methodist Church.
Twelve members and two guests attended the March meeting, led by president Abby Weir. Their roll call response was, “My favorite spring flower.” Rita Leisure, treasurer and Judy Barnes, acting secretary gave reports, as did cultural arts leader Claire Mercer.
Several items of business were discussed.
Following the business meeting, a program about creating Ukranian eggs was presented by Cheryl Hunt of Knightstown. Cheryl gave the history of the beautiful, intricately decorated eggs and demonstrated the technique for creating them.
Guest Traci Wenke, received the bid gift. Hostesses Janet Cooper and Diana Nash served refreshments.
Judy Barnes led the April meeting and members answered roll call with, “Something weird I saw at the grocery store.”
The reading of the minutes and treasury were read and approved.
Pat Newport gave a report, “How to get rid of rodents.” Claire Mercer gave a cultural arts report and Janet Cooper shared inspirational readings.
Ann Reddick, Rita Leisure, Barbara Proctor, Abby Weir and Abby’s mother enjoyed the recent trip to Jungle Jim’s in Ohio with another Rush County homemaker. Ann, Rita and Barbara shared highlight of the trip.
Claire Mercer won the drawing for the bid gift.
Members are looking forward to participating in the Rush County Fair in June and to holding a yard sale and bake sale during Carthage Community Days the third Saturday in July on the library lawn.
