James R. Bayless, 87, of Rush County, passed away at his home on Nov. 15, 2013 in Rush County. He was born Aug. 8, 1926 in Shelby County to Roy A. and Missouri (Bentley) Bayless. Jim was a 1944 graduate of Manilla High School and received his cost accountant degree after high school. He married Georgia Cline on March 4, 1952 and she survives.
Jim was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He served during the Pacific Theatre. He returned home from the war and worked for Western Electric in Indianapolis as a cost accountant for nearly 30 years. He retired in 1986.
Jim lived nearly 30 years in northern Shelby County. After retirement, he and his wife moved to Lake Santee and spent nearly 10 years there before moving to their present home in Rush County in 2003. Jim was a member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his wife, Georgia, of Rush County, he is survived by a sister, Lois Bayless of Shelbyville; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a stillborn son, James Abel Bayless; brothers, Paul, John, Edwin, Robert and his twin Harry; and sisters, Zelma, Elizabeth and Martha.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville, where friends are welcome to visit from 11 a.m. until time of service. Rev. Roger Abraham will preside and burial will be in Rushville's East Hill Cemetery. The Rush County Veteran's Honor Guard will provide military rites.
