Bonnie Crain Deford, 81, a lifelong Rush County resident, passed away Sept. 6, 2013 in Rushville. She was born Dec. 7, 1931 in Rush County to Lester and Stella (Keith) Pearcy, both deceased.
Bonnie was a former member of First Baptist Church in Rushville. She was a charter member of the Rushville Eagles Lodge where she was on the Ladies Auxillary. She worked nearly 30 years with International Furniture/Schnadig Corporation as a sewing machine operator and was an Avon representative in Rush County for nearly 30 years.
She is survived by sons, Cary Gates Sr. and wife Melody of Denver, Colo., Lee Gates Jr. and wife Billie of Phenix City, Ala.; daughters, Kathy Walker Burress of Buchannan, Tenn., Bonita Abrams of Arlington, Della Lowery and husband Robert of Clarksburg, Tammie Farley and April Nicholson and husband Tim, all of Rushville; 19 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by son-in-laws, Bob Burress and Terry Abrams; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church with Pastor Jan Dimick presiding. Friends are welcome to visit one hour prior to service at the church.
