--- — Robert John Robbins, 89, of Milroy, passed away Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013 at University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham, Ala.
Robert was born Nov. 24, 1923, a son of the late John P. Robbins and Mildred (Foreman) Robbins.
He was the husband of Virginia (Remmler) Robbins.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Sandra, wife of Terry Gwinnup, Milroy; a son, Desmond, Dothan, Ala.; grandson, Terry, husband of (Amy) Gwinnup; granddaughter, Michellle, wife of (Doug) Herbert, granddaughter, Melinda, wife of (Ryan) Miller, all of Milroy; granddaughter, Katie, wife of (Justin) Waller, Dothan Ala.; granddaughter, Mary Beth Jahn, Dothan Ala.; brother, Dale, husband of (Chris) Robbins, Dundee Fla.; brother, James Robbins, Silvis, Ill.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Myers of Columbus, Ind.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant piloting C46’s and C47’s in support of combat actions in France and Germany
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Milroy Christian Church.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21 at Milroy Christian Church with Rev. Ron Simbro officiating.
Burial will follow in Greensburg South Park Cemetery with military honors.
