Dennis A. Rhoades, 57, of Rushville, passed away Monday, May 13, 2013, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus. He was born Feb. 18, 1956, in Shelby County to George Rhoades and Dorothie (Shadley) Rhoades. He married Cathy (Cummings) Rhoades Feb. 29, 2012; she survives in Rush County. Other survivors include his mother of Waldron; children, Ryan (wife, Christel) Rhoades of Orlando, Fla., Alicia (partner, Stephanie Morgan) Rhoades of Indianapolis, Cayla (husband, Jeremy) Allison of New Castle and Lexy (fiancé, Steven Davis) Laker of Rushville; sister, Teresa (husband, Dennis) Cochran of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Naomi Rhoades and Bronx Allison; and nieces, Melissa Renbarger and Lindsey Cochran.
Mr. Rhoades was lifetime resident of the area. He graduated from Waldron High School in 1974. He was a staking engineer for RushShelby Energy for 33 years.
Dennis was a member of Waldron United Methodist Church. He enjoyed camping and spending time on the lake, hunting, farming with his brother-in-law and he loved his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren and living life to the fullest.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Glenn E. George and Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, Shelbyville.
A Celebration of Life will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2013, at the funeral home with Linda Cord officiating.
Burial will be in Arlington East Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Remembering Rhoades Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home to help other cancer patients and their families.
