Geneva (Sissy) Jaggers Maple, 79
Geneva Maple, 79, of Rushville, passed away Jan. 20, 2014 in Rushville. She was born Aug. 23, 1934 in Rushville to Silas L. and Mamie (Gabbard) Jaggers. She married Harold Maple on July 26, 1973 and he preceded her in death on Dec. 19, 2003. Geneva lived many years in Florida before coming back to Rushville in 2008.
She is survived by a son, Robert Michael and wife Melinda Hokey of Indianapolis; daughters, Brenda Hokey of Rushville and Deborah (Jaggers) Matney of Augusta, Ga.; a sister, Edith and husband Mike Hackensmith of Laurel; grandsons, David, William and Bradley Hokey; and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother Robert Jaggers; her daughter Shelly Maple; and grandchildren Brandi Lynn Matney and William Michael Walden.
Geneva lived most of her life in or around Rushville. She was president of the Ladies Axillary and was manager and bartender at the VFW in Rushville for years. She had worked at Philco Ford in Connersville and managed several rental properties in Florida. She was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed painting flowers, crafts, crocheting, jigsaw puzzles and spending time with her family.
She will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.
The family would also like to thank all of the staff, nurses and doctors at Rush Memorial Hospital for the excellent care she was given in her final days. Everything they did to help make her final hours peaceful is very much appreciated.
