RUSHVILLE — Betty J. Loyd, 77, Greensburg, surrounded by her loving family, peacefully left this life behind to be with her Heavenly Father Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Heritage House Nursing Home, Greensburg.

Born Aug. 10, 1935, in Rushville, she was the daughter of Chester and Anna (Power) Harper.   

Betty was a 1953 graduate of Rushville High School. She moved to Greensburg and worked as a telephone operator for many years. She also had worked at the Clearing House and IGA. She was a homemaker, a loving wife, a caring and nurturing mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Betty was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and an active member of the St. Lawrence Auxiliary for 22 years.

She married William Loyd Jan. 18, 1958; he preceded her in death Sept. 15, 1999.

She is survived by two sons, John (Synita) of George and Doug (April) of Greensburg; two daughters, Susie of Greensburg and Mary of Greensburg; three sisters, Martha Stephen, Kokomo, Helen Moore, Fountaintown, Violet Miller, Centerville; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, Jimmy; one brother and three sisters.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg.  A public rosary service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg with Rev. John Meyer officiating.

Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s Building Fund or to OurHospice of South Central Indiana.
