---- — Hazel M. Martin, 91, a former resident of Rush County, passed away March 31, 2014 at Wesley Manor in Frankfort. She was born Aug. 11, 1922 in Richland Township Rush County, to Charles L. and Cleone (Hossleton) Howell. She was a 1940 graduate of New Salem High School. She married Alvin N. Martin on May 9, 1943 and he preceded her in death on Nov. 21, 2001.
Hazel was a resident of Rush County for most of her life. She had been employed at Farm Credit Services and Main Street Christian Church as their secretary for many years. She was also a housewife and co-farmer from 1958-1985. Hazel was a member of the Main Street Christian Church, the Priscilla Art and Literary Club, Martha Poe Chapter of OES, Kappa Kappa Sigma and Charter Member of the Gingham Gals.
Survivors include three daughters, Sharon Druley of Frankfort, Denise Peterson of St. Charles, Ill. , Debra (Mark) Reed of Indianapolis; a son, Stephen of Florida; four granddaughters; four grandsons; two step grandsons; five great granddaughters; a great grandson; three step great granddaughters; a step great grandson; two nieces and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; a sister, Wilma Billieu; and sons- in- law, Michael Druley, Mac Hoge and Walter Peterson.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2014 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville. Friends are welcome to visit from 9:30 a.m. until time of service on Friday. Rev. Sam Davenport will preside and entombment will be in the East Hill Shrine Mausoleum.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Main Street Christian Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
