Roberta S. “Berta” Cole, 75, of Moscow, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2013.
She was born Feb. 2, 1938, in Rush County to Robert E. and Mary Helen (Mastin) Martin. She was a 1955 graduate of New Salem High School. Berta married Marvin Cole June 26, 1960; he survives.
Berta had helped operate Guns and Tackle in Greensburg since 1977. The business was originally in Moscow, beginning in 1969. She also helped Marvin with the farming operation. She was a member of Moscow Christian Church, but had attended Big Flatrock Christian Church the past few years. Berta was president of the Friends Too Home Ec Club, received the Rush County Republican Woman of the Year in 2005, was an avid supporter of the Ronald McDonald House and the Riley Children’s Hospital. Berta loved her friends and family. She also enjoyed collecting cat figurines.
In addition to her husband, Marvin, of Moscow, she is survived by her daughters, Linda Ging of Rushville, Pamela and husband Jose’ Guzman of Ft. Wayne and Kate and husband Steve Kuhn of Milroy; a brother, Jim and wife Betty Martin of Rushville; grandchildren, Cole Ging of Rushville, Schuyler (Skip) and wife Liz Ging of Falmouth, Jose’ and Miguel Guzman of Ft. Wayne and Carlie Kuhn of Milroy; and great-granddaughter, Rylie Ging of Rushville.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 24 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville, where friends are welcome to visit from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 23. Burial will be in Moscow Cemetery. Pastors Robert G. Burgbacher and Howard Bullard will preside.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, Riley Children’s Hospital, the American Heart Association or Big Flatrock Christian Church.
