James E. Wyatt, 71, of Rushville, passed away Monday, June 24, 2013, at his home in Rushville.
He was born Feb. 21, 1942, in Andersonville, to Charley and Helena Maxine (Dunn) Wyatt. Jim married Betty (Buckley) Smith April 28, 1995; she survives.
Jim was a US Navy veteran. He retired from Dana Corporation in 2004 as a supervisor after 26 years. He was a member of Metamora Church of God.
In addition to his wife, Betty, of Rushville, he is survived by sons, Mike Wyatt of Brookville, Greg and wife Becky Smith of Rushville and Donnie and wife Cyndi Smith of Rushville; daughters, Melissa and husband Bruce Christian, Barbara Hargis, Trudy Smith and Pam Mull, all of Rushville; brothers, Mark Wyatt of Orlando, Fla. and Charley Wyatt of Pendleton; sisters, Florence and husband Donnie Halcomb of Metamora and Wanda Jeffries of Rushville; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Richard “Smitty” Smith and Clifford Wyatt; a sister, Mary Stanley; and a brother, Dale Wyatt.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 26 at Metamora Church of God with Pastor Wayne Ison presiding. Friends are welcome to visit from 10 a.m. until time of service that day at the church. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery where the Rush County Veteran’s Honor Guard will provide military graveside rites.
