Edwin Allan Ellis, 84, of Arlington, died May 11, 2013.
Mr. Ellis was a farmer and had operated a dairy in Rush County for over 60 years. He held various church leadership positions at Homer Christian Union Church and served on the Goddard Cemetery Board many years. He also served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953.
The son of Frank and Cuba (Martin) Ellis, he was born Oct. 15, 1928 in Marion County. He was married for 39 years to Lois Alliene Ellis (Anderson), who preceded him in 1989. Avis Brown of Homer was the second love of his life for over 23 years and she survives.
Also surviving are sons, Terrell (Carol) Ellis (South Carolina) and John Ellis (Manilla); a daughter, Joyce Ellis Kerr (Illinois); five grandchildren, Jennifer Ellis, (Franklin) Lori (Zoran) Cucuz (Greenwood), Bryan Kerr (Poland), Alyssa Kerr (Arizona), Erin (W.T.) Basinger (Kansas); two great-grandchildren, Taytum and Tenley Basinger; and three brothers, Clyde (Marcia) Ellis (Rushville), Marion (Minnie, deceased) (Becky) Ellis (Michigan) and Lee (Pat, who survives) Ellis (deceased).
A Celebration of Life with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 15 at Todd Funeral Centre & Crematory in Rushville with Rev. Roger Abraham officiating. Burial will be in Goddard Cemetery in Rush County. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 14 at the funeral centre.
