Martha M. Van Lue, 84, of Connersville, passed away May 20, 2014 at Hickory Creek in Connersville.
She was born Dec. 27, 1929 in Rushville, a daughter of the late Elmer and Marie (Flodder) Thorp. She was in 1948 graduate of Rushville High School. She married Elden Van Lue Jr. June 5,1948. He died Oct. 2, 1996. She had worked as a cashier at Kroger for over 25 years.
Martha was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church. She was a former member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Rushville. She also enjoyed living at New Smyrna Beach, Florida, during the winters. She was an absolute professional when it came to cross stitching. She loved to quilt as well. Her hallmark hobby was hand making greeting cards which she shared with everyone throughout her life. Martha had also been a culinary grand champion at the Fayette County fair twice.
Those left to cherish her memory include three daughters, Vicky Van Lue, Diane (Rick) Sack, both of Connersville, and Sandra (Joe) Beall of Ghent, Kentucky; one grandchild, Angie (Ashford) Casey of Long Beach, Mississippi; and two great grandchildren Sydney and Lainey.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 23 at Todd Funeral Centre & Crematory in Rushville, celebrated by Rev. Jeremy Gries. Burial will follow at Rushville’s Calvary Cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 4:35 p.m. Thursday May 22 followed by visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. at Todd Funeral Centre Crematory.
