Chase L. Wagoner, 89, a life long Rush County resident, passed away May 15, 2014 in Rushville. Chase was born April 30, 1925 in Rush County to Everett Roscoe and Ethel (Wilkison) Wagoner. He married Miriam Louise Linville on Dec. 2, 1944, she preceded him in death in November of 1999.
Chase retired from the Rushville Fire Department after 25 years of service. He was Fire Chief from 1968-71. Chase was also a welder and mechanic of heavy equipment. He held a lifetime membership in Optimists International, serving as North District Lieutenant Governor receiving Distinguished designation. Chase helped organize the second Rushville Optimist Club as well as start several clubs in the district. He was a member of the Little Blue River Church of Christ.
He is survived by daughter, Carole Houston Yeend of Rushville; son, Sam and wife Angela Wagoner of Woodburn; grandchildren, Sean and wife Andrea Wagoner, Andrew Wagoner, Emily Wagoner, Steve and wife Susan Houston and Marc Houston; and great grandchildren.
Chase was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Jennifer Shields; half-sister, Ruth Wilkison Wagoner; and half-brother, Delbert Wilkison.
A time of visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 21 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville. Private burial will be in Rushville's East Hill Cemetery.
