Effie E. Willis, 96, a Rush County resident since 1936, passed away May 9, 2014 in Greensburg. She was born Oct. 22, 1917 in Decatur County to Frank G. and Zelpha Ann (Harrell) Baker. Effie was a 1935 graduate of Milroy High School. She married Otis Willis on Sept. 3, 1936 and he preceded her in death on Oct. 13, 1990.
Effie was a member of the Milroy Christian Church. She was involved with the DHIA-Dairy Herd Improvement Association-Testing Department. She was a homemaker, enjoying quilting and caring for her family. She was an exceptional cook.
She is survived by her daughters, Maxine Wolfal of Columbus and Marjorie Amos and husband Donald of Rushville; brother, Frank Barker of Knoxville, Tennessee; nine grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Loren, Glen, Willard and Henry; sisters, Gertrude, Edith and Frieda; and great granddaughters, Helen and Georgeanna Amos.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 13 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville. Friends are welcome to visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday evening, May 12. Rev. Patrick Smith will preside and burial will be in Rushville's East Hill Cemetery.
