Mabel B. (Haley) Smith, 86, of Rushville, formerly of Milroy, passed away May 2, 2014 in Rushville. She was born May 16, 1927 in Pendleton County, Kentucky, to Mark and Hallie (Fields) Haley.
She married Kenneth Edward Smith on June 4, 1944 in Falmouth, Ky. He preceded her in death on June 22, 2003.
Mabel was a member of the Milroy Christian Church for 62 years. She retired in 1993 after 27 years at Harcourt Outlines in Milroy. She loved her family, decorating, traveling and talking with God.
She is survived by her children, Terry and wife Brenda Smith of Rushville and Vickie and husband Jim Smith of North Manchester; grandchildren, Penny Sisto of Redondo Beach, California, Sara Hilsmeyer of Evansville, Dusty and wife Jennifer Smith of Waldron, and Ryan and wife Stetson Smith of Avon; great grandchildren, Chase Hilsmeyer, Natalie and Nicholas Sisto, Gavin, Anderson and Alexis Smith; nieces, Susan Kuizenga of Columbus, Ohio, and April Gillespie of Falmouth, Ky.; and nephews, Mark and wife Jean Ann Powell of Walton, Ky., and David and wife Mary Haley of Falmouth, Ky.
Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Thomas Porter and David Haley, and sisters Melba Liddy and Carrie Kelly.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2014 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville with Rev. Ron Simbro presiding. Visitation is one hour prior to service. Burial will be in Rushville's East Hill Cemetery.
