Ethel Irene (Weber) George, 89, of Spiceland, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012 at her residence surrounded by her loving family following a brief illness.
She was born Jan. 17, 1923 in Decatur County, the daughter of John Peter and Lillian Augusta (Weideman) Weber.
Ethel was a member of New Lisbon Christian Church and had taught Sunday School at Sexton Christian Church. She enjoyed cooking and canning. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 68 years, James Riley George; sons, Roger (Carol) George of Norwalk, Ohio, Jim (Janet) George of Muncie, Dennis (Cathy) George of Spiceland and Robert George of New Castle; a daughter, Donna Sue (Tom) Roginski of Mertztown, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Norman (Lois) Weber of Greensburg; many nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Weber and Evelyn Weber, both of Greensburg.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Andy George; three brothers, Herbert, Arthur and Jack Weber; three sisters, Nellie Grow, Dorothy Powers and Olive Spiegel.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Rev. Bill Worrel officiating. Burial will follow in Circle Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11 at the funeral home.
