RUSHVILLE — Janet M. Barlow, 78, of Marion, died Monday, July 8, 2013 at Marion General Hospital.
She was born Nov. 15, 1934 in Rushville to the late George and Dora (Ketchum) Stevens. On Oct. 24, 1953 she married Jack Barlow; he preceded her in death April 25, 2002.
Janet lived in Marion since 1957. She and Jack opened The West Lawn Party Store and Pizza Corral. She had been a bookkeeper at G&G Homes and Vice President of Accounting at Scantland Communications. She also co-owned Horizons Travels for 18 years.
In 1952, she graduated from Rushville High School and is a member of Main Street Christian Church in Rushville. She was a former member of Kappa Kappa Sigma, JR. Service Guild, American Legion Auxiliary Post 584, Moose Lodge Chapter 448, and Mobile Meals. She was a member of the Marion Senior Center and Pleasant Senior Center, enjoyed playing bingo and traveling to New Orleans and Las Vegas to gamble.
Survivors include four sons, Mike of Batesburg, S.C., David of Marion, Brent (Sue) of Worthington and Craig (Dottie) of Marion; grandchildren, Andrew (Meredith), Danielle, Justin, and Jesse; and several nieces and nephews.
Her sister, Becky McMichael is deceased.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors from 5 until 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2013 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors with Rev. Adam Sornchai officiating. Burial will follow at Grand Prairie Cemetery.
