---- — Hazel L. Workman, 76, a long time Rushville resident, passed away April 12, 2014 in Rush Memorial Hospital. She was born March 11, 1938 in Shelbyville to Henry Wilson and Pearl (Lore) Huddleston. She spent her early life in Connersville and had been in Rush County since 1965. She was married to Merrill "Doc" Workman for many years. He preceded her in death in 1994.
Hazel worked at Schnadig Corporation in Rushville for 31 years. She also worked at BCA in Greensburg for eight years. She was a member of the Rushville Eagles Lodge #2036.
She is survived by her sons, Ronald E. Hughes of Rush County and Danny W. and wife Penny Proffitt of Shelbyville; daughter, Denise Hughes of Rushville; a brother, Gerald Wilson of Shelbyville; a sister, Charlotte Robertson of Richmond; grandchildren, Ron Nathan Hughes, Shirley Bennett and husband Shawn, Deana Hughes, Sonny Laffler and Stephanie Fussner; six great grandchildren; and a great-great granddaughter. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a daughter, Shirley Fussner.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 16 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville. Friends are welcome to visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 15. Phil Mitchell will preside and burial will be in Rushville's East Hill Cemetery.
