Alvin C. Sippel Jr., 72, a long time Rush County resident passed away Sunday, April 6, 2014 in Rushville. Alvin was born in Tinley Park, Ill., on July 29, 1941 to the late Alvin C. and Elsie (Holtstein) Sipple Sr.
Alvin was a 1959 graduate of Carl Sandberg High School in Illinois. Alvin married Charlotte A. (Evans) McGrath on April 12, 1969 and she survives. Alvin was a Rush County farmer and formerly worked at Berkemeier Feed and Grain. He retired from the Rushville City Fire Dept. after 25 years of service. Alvin was a past president of the Rushville Lions Club and was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Rushville.
In addition to his wife, Alvin leaves behind three sons, Rocky McGrath and wife Terri of Andersonville, Randy McGrath and wife Joanna of Rushville and Robert McGrath and wife Melissa of Indianapolis; brother Ralph Jennings and wife Nancy of North Carolina; sister, Charlene and husband David Bergman of Mokena Ill.; 17 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Gina Marie Berggren; two sisters; and a brother-in-law.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville with Pastor Jan Dimick presiding. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Rushville’s East Hill Cemetery.
