Richard D. "Dick" Clair, 83, a long time resident of Mays, passed away on Oct. 20, 2013, in Rushville. He was born Oct. 16, 1930, in Henry County to Richard J. and Reathel (Gulley) Clair, both deceased.
Dick was a 1948 graduate of Knightstown High School. He married Jessie Carpenter on Dec. 24, 1949, and she survives.
Dick retired in 1987 from Ford Motor Company in Indianapolis where he had worked for 30 years. He was a very active Ham radio operator with call letters of N9XLD.
In addition to his wife, Jessie, of Rushville, Dick is survived by a son, Timothy R. and wife Cindy Clair of Rio Rancho, N.M.; a daughter, Marilyn and husband Burton Weitzman of New Port Richey, Fla.; grandchildren, Ashlie and husband Bryan January, Ben Clair, Jorja and husband Al Comer and Jacob Wilson. Five great grandchildren also survive.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at Moster Mortuary, Rushville, where friends are welcome to visit from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Rushville's East Hill Cemetery. John Wall will preside.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Ham Radio-American Radio Relay League.
