Alvin C. Buening 74, of Glenwood, passed away Oct 2, 2013.
Born in Letts, he was a son of the late George and Helen (Roell) Buening. He married Thelma (Bachman) Kopp Sept. 14, 1999; she survives.
He was a lifelong farmer and member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Buening of Glenwood; two sons, David (Janet) Buening of Glenwood and Kim (Nancy) Buening of Indianapolis; a daughter, Joyce Willoughby of Merritt Island, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Michael, Nathaniel, Clarissa Buening, Andrew, Ian, Alex and Tori Willoughby, Logan and Luke Buening; three step grandchildren, Glenn Kopp, Angie Fette and Christy (Chris) Fields; four step great-grandchildren Nicky Kopp, Kris Fette, Elizabeth and Vanessa Fields; nine brothers and sisters, Joseph (Joan) Buening, Millie (Carl) Busch, Phil (Roseaaron) Buening, Ray (Maggie) Buening, Robert (Joyce) Buening, John (Renee) Buening, Ruth Buening, Jerome (Karen) Buening; sister-in-law, Ann Buening.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Suzann (Craig) Buening, whom he married in 1959 (she preceded him in death in 1998); and a brother, Don Buening.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013 at Todd Funeral Centre and Crematory, Rushville with Rev. Jeremy Gries officiating (due to church renovation). Burial will follow at Rushville’s Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Todd Funeral Centre where all are welcome for the rosary at 3:45 p.m.
