Lawrence W. Nigh, Sr., 87, a long time Rushville resident, passed away March 15, 2014 in Rushville. He was born June 7, 1926 in Rush County to Harry W. and Lenora N. (Reames) Nigh. He married Dorothy Ruble on Sept. 11, 1946 and she preceded him in death on March 25, 1988.
Lawrence retired in 1990 as a machine repairman from Ford Motor Company in Indianapolis after 26 years. He was a lifetime member of the Rushville Eagles Lodge #2036. He enjoyed bowling and was on three leagues at the Rushville Bowl.
He is survived by a daughter, Kimberly and husband Tim Howard of Connersville; sons, Terry Allen and wife Linda Nigh of West Lafayette, Gary Lynn and wife Teresa Nigh of Rushville, Lawrence, Jr. and wife Linda Nigh of Gillett, Penn., and Philip Douglas and wife Celia Nigh of Rushville; sister-in-laws, Mollie Nigh of Ormond Beach, Fla. and Dorothy Nigh of Muncie; 19 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Lawrence is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a sister, Helen Angle; and brothers, Francis, Carl Sr., Wesley and Herschel.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 20 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville, with Ray Brewer presiding. Friends are welcome to visit at the mortuary from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday evening, March 19. Burial will be in the Asbury Cemetery in Morristown.
