Mary Ann Gray, 88, a life long Rush County resident, passed away March 15, 2014 at her home in Mays. She was born Dec. 2, 1925 in Rushville to Alonzo Ayres and Mary Elizabeth (Rider) Ayres Brock. She was a 1943 graduate of Mays High School. Mary Ann was married to Milo L. Cox from March 4, 1944 until his death on Aug. 14, 1955, James Lower from September 1966 until his death in August 1985 and Donald G. Gray from Nov. 27, 1992 until his death on June 2, 2011.
Mary Ann was a very active member of the Center Christian Church. She worked several years at Schnadig Corporation, was office manager many years for White Felt Company and owned and managed the Loma Apartments in Rushville from 1985-2005.
She is survived by her daughters, Sue Ann and husband Dennis Mullins of St. Augustine, Fla., and Kathy and husband Bob Nikels of West Minister, S.C.; sons, Jerry and wife Suzanne Cox of Rushville and Mike and wife Sharon Cox of Muncie;eight grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. She was also survived by her beloved second family, Marilyn J. and husband Ervin Roberts of Brookville; Janet L. and husband Michael Sparks of Shirley; and Terri Gray of Rush County, along with all their children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands; Don's son, Brian Gray; sisters, Helen Faurote and Jane Kennedy; and brothers, Glenn and Paul Ayres.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 19 at Center Christian Church, 9112 N. 50 W. Knightstown. Friends are welcome to visit at the church from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18. Burial will be in the Hopewell Cemetery and Pastor Darryl Denney will preside.
