RUSHVILLE — Leta Louise Herbert, 84, went to her heavenly home on this 16th day of November , 2012, to join her sweet husband of 65 years, Landon, who preceded her in death this past August.
She was born to Amos and Lillian McClure on Nov. 20, 1927. Leta was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother – she loved those grandkids! Leta spent her entire life in Rush County, living in Milroy until moving to Miller’s Merry Manor in 2008.
She is survived by three sons: Dean (Jayne) Herbert of Punta Gorda, Fla., Rob (Rita) Herbert of Anderson, and Troy (Becky) Herbert of Milroy; grandchildren Julie Wilson (Atlanta), Jama Lagomarsino (Atlanta), Jason Herbert (Pensacola), Mandy Keller (Knightstown), Angie Lakia (Porter), Ashley Herbert (Anderson), Tiffany Herbert (Shelbyville), and Jesse Herbert (Greensburg); 15 great-grandchildren and special grandkids Sarah and Nicholas Innis. One sister, Elanda Bruner of Fort Wayne survives. She was preceded in death by one son, Joseph; husband, Landon; sister, Thea Huskins; and brothers, Noble McClure, Lester McClure, Niles McClure and John McClure.
Leta was a member of Milroy Christian Church and worked in the women’s Guild for many years. She worked at Schnadig Corporation, Chase, Milroy canning factory, Fordice Nursing Home and retired from Harcourt Outlines in 1976.
Visitation and services will be at Milroy Christian Church with visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and the funeral service at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012.
Burial will be at Richland Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Milroy Christian Church and/or Hospice of South Central Indiana, Inc..
