---- — Phyllis Whipple, 80 of Connersville, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her family. Born in Connersville on Oct. 5, 1933, she is the daughter of the late William Howard and Mary Elizabeth Herbert Brown.

Phyllis was a member of the Fairview Christian Church. On May 10, 1952, she married Norman G. Whipple. Mr. Whipple died in 2010. She loved to square dance was a member of the Lakeside Steppers. She had worked at Krogers in her younger years. After raising her family, she had worked at 3D and then she became the co-owner of Whipple's Meat Packing in Rush County from 1987 until 2000. The business was sold to J & D Custom Meats and Phyllis continued to work as a meat wrapper until March 2013. She was a loving grandmother to her own grandchildren and to the many others that considered her their grandma. Phyllis was devoted to her family. She always cooked a large Sunday dinner and all were invited.

She is survived by two sons, Gary G. (Cynthia L.) Whipple and Terry L. (Tonya R.) Whipple all of Connersville; a brother, Norman Brown of Connersville; a sister Ruth Riebsomer of Connersville; six grandchildren, Laura, Jennifer, Alan, Johnny, Amy and Ryan; and 14 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded in death by two brothers, William Howard Brown, Jr. and her twin that died at birth, Phillip Gene Brown; three sisters, June Hawkins, Helen Derringer and Martha Lykins; and a great grandson, Nicholas Wood.

Funeral services will be conducted at Urban Winkler Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Saturday Jan. 11, 2014, where friends and family may visit from noon until the time of the service. Burial will follow.
