Clyde Norman Copple, 83

Clyde Norman Copple, 83, passed away Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born Sept. 6, 1930, Norman was the first of three children born to Clyde Cleo and Agnes Lavonne (Land) Copple. Norman enlisted in the U.S. Navy from 1951-55, serving on the U.S.S. Missouri during the Korean Conflict. He married Delories Mae Lepper on Mother’s Day, May 10, 1953. Upon receiving an honorable discharge, Norman and Dee came home to Rushville where they lived and raised their family for the next 60 years.

Mr. Copple was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and true friend to many.

In addition to his wife Delories, Norman is survived by his two daughters, Mrs. Penny Sue Gordon of Rushville and Mrs. Nancy Ann (David) Tucker of Greenwood; son, Bruce Norman (Paula) Copple of Greensburg; five grandchildren, Matthew (Joni) Gordon of Rushville, Christopher (Jackie) Ralstin of New Salem, Brandon (Katie) Tucker of Hattisburg, Miss., Katie Gordon (and Shane Brooks) of Greenfield and Benjamin Copple of Indianapolis. Norman and Dee have also been blessed with great-grandchildren Jarrod, Jonathan, Olivia, McKenna, Jake, Eli, Grace, Mollie, Mia and Lydia. His children and grandchildren brought him much love and joy. Norman is also survived by a sister, Vicki Lynn (Terry) Rench of Clayton, Ohio, and special cousin Deborah Lawton (Art) Falcone of Florida.

Besides his parents, Norman was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Matlock, and his son-in-law, Bill Gordon.

Due to health issues, Norman lost his eyesight nearly 14 years ago. Thanks to the generosity of the Lions Club, this tragedy turned into a blessing when a Standard Poodle named Justus entered Norman’s life. Justus and Norman were inseparable...truly best friends. Justus was not only Norman’s eyes, he became a loved member of the Copple family for 12 years. Sadly, Justus died in October 2013.
