Leroy Martin, 92, a lifelong resident of Rush County passed away Monday, Feb. 3, 2014 in Rushville. Leroy was born in Rush County on July 16, 1921 to the late Albert and Cora (Childers) Martin. He was a 1939 graduate of Milroy High School.
Leroy served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He married Joan Carmichael on Dec. 2, 1952 and she preceded him in death on July 12, 1997. Leroy was a farmer, carpenter and worked for Harcourt Outlines for 23 years. He was a member of Big Flatrock Christian Church, the Milroy Masonic Lodge and the Rush County Sr. Citizen Center.
He leaves behind two sons, Eric Martin and wife Alyce of Milroy and Gary Martin of Shelbyville; six grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Joan and Helen Abercrombie, his companion of nine years.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville. William Linville will preside. Friends are welcome to visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Mortuary. Burial will be in East Brook Cemetery.
