Hubert C. Robertson, 95

Hubert C. Robertson, 95, of New Castle and formerly of Middletown, went to be with the Lord Friday, Jan. 31, 2014 at his residence, following a brief illness. He was born Aug. 26, 1918 in Rush County, a son of the late Earl and Edna (Hamon) Robertson.

A Henry County resident since 1974, he was a 1934 graduate of Mays High School. Hubert was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, as family was very important to him. He owned and operated Robertson’s Upholstery shops in Milroy and in Indianapolis for many years. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. He retired from the Farm Bureau Farm and Home Store in New Castle in 1983 and had also worked at Bradley-Hall Furniture Store. Hubert was a member of the First Baptist Church of New Castle. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, whom he married June 14, 1952,Barbara J. Robertson of New Castle; one son: Paul (wife Nancy) Robertson of Greensburg; three daughters, Cathy Swigart of Milroy, Debbie (husband Rev. Larry) Rempe of Monrovia and Mary (husband Jim) Wilson of New Castle; daughter-in-law: Beverley Robertson of Milroy; 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Marion Robertson; grandson, Matthew Robertson; brother, Chester Robertson; sister, Annabelle Peters; and two great granddaughters, Marissa and Asia.

Services will be noon, Tuesday, Feb. 4. 2014, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Larry Rempe and Pastor Jerry Ingalls officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion, VFW and a contingent from the U.S. Army.
