RUSHVILLE — Betty R. Carter, 86, a longtime Rush County resident, passed away Aug. 20, 2013 in Rushville.
Betty was born in Gwynneville on May 1, 1927 to the late Harry Swain Poston and Liberty (Branson) Harper.
Betty lived in Rush County for 52 years and lived in Shelby County prior to that. She married Robert L. “Bob” Carter Nov. 28, 1946; he preceded her in death Feb. 19, 2013. Betty worked in the State Auditor’s office in Indianapolis for 31 years and was responsible for getting the chapel at the State House.
She was a very active member and held various positions in the House of Prayer Church in Lewisville and taught many ages of Sunday school classes. Betty was the Director of Heavens Bread Basket food pantry in Lewisville for many years.
Betty leaves behind three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many special friends.
In addition to her husband, Bob, Betty was preceded in death by her parents; step father, Chester Harper; two sons and one daughter.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013 at the House of Prayer Church, 9630 S CR 25 W, Lewisville. Pastor David Todd will preside. Friends are welcome to visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at the church and one hour prior to the service Saturday. Burial will be in Raleigh Cemetery.
