Michael H. Whitaker, 66, of Shelbyville, passed away March 23, 2013, in Shelbyville.
He was born May 19, 1946, in Jeffersonville to Harold and Lola (Crase) Whitaker. He spent most of his life in the Glenwood, Rushville area. He was a 1964 graduate of Rushville High School. He had lived in Shelbyville since 1997. Mike married Jacqueline Taylor Feb. 7, 1999; she survives.
Mike worked for Wonder Bread as a driver for 28 years. He had worked at K&W Fueling in Rushville for the last 20 years. Mike was a member of First Christian Church in Shelbyville. He attended Plum Creek Christian Church quite often and had great passion for the Greensburg area Emmaus.
In addition to his wife, Jacque, of Shelbyville, he is also survived by his mother, Lola Whitaker of Glenwood; sons, Doug and wife Holly Whitaker of Rushville and Greg Whitaker of Las Cruces, N.M.; a daughter, Jennifer and husband Rocky Ward of Las Cruces, N.M.; step daughters, Sydney and Nikki McKeown, both of Shelbyville; a sister, Billie; and grandchildren, Abbey Whitaker, Emily Mann, Garrett, Bradan, Malia and Jorie Ward, Hendrix and Ella Murphy.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 29 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville, where friends are welcome to visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Ray Sweet III will preside. Burial will take place in Orange Cemetery.
