William M. “Billy” Tompkins, 48, a lifelong Rush County resident, passed away suddenly Wednesday, March 20, 2013, in Indianapolis.
He was born March 3, 1965, in Rushville to John M. and Rebecca Belle (Bryan) Tompkins.
Billy was a 1984 graduate of Rushville Consolidated High School. He married Teresa Whited March 12, 1994; she survives.
Billy was a truck driver for Ag Production Enterprises in Greensburg for the last 11 years. He was a member of Raleigh Fire Department and the Pioneer Engineers Club of Rush County. He enjoyed antique John Deere tractors.
Survivors in addition to his wife, Teresa, of Rush County, include a son, Joshua A. Tompkins of Morristown; brothers, Larry and wife Debbie Tompkins of Rushville, Marshall and wife Sue Tompkins of Carthage, Mike and wife Wanda Tompkins of Morristown and Mark and wife Sherry Tompkins of Carthage; and a sister, Sharon and husband Gary Evans of Rushville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Johnny; and a sister, Ruth Ellen Foley.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 26 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville, where friends are welcome to visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday. Danny Shelton will preside and burial will be in Glencove Cemetery in Knightstown.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Raleigh Fire Department or the Pioneer Engineer’s Club of Rush County.
