Mae Ash Tiernan, 81 of Richmond, died June 29, 2009.

Born Dec. 13, 1927 in Clarksburg, she was the daughter of Carter and Marie (Bowles) Peters, both deceased.

Mrs. Tiernan graduated from Greensburg High School in 1945 and resided in Mauzy until 1990, when she married Richard J. Tiernan and moved to Richmond. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church Y.M.I. and the Ladies Kiwanis Club of Richmond.

Survivors include son, Larry Ash of Glenwood; step children, Elaine Tiernan and (husband Thomas Wagner) of Richmond, Jane Metcalf of Kentucky, Patrick (wife Che') Tiernan of Shelby, N.C. and Thomas (wife Janet) Tiernan of San Diego, Calif.; sisters, Anna Kennedy of Connersville and Sue Hochstedler of Louisville, Ky.; brother, Charles Peters of Metamora; grandsons, Greg and Jeff Ash of Rushville and Chad Ash of Indianapolis and Jason Ash of Glenwood.; step grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Ash; one son, James Ash; second husband, Richard Tiernan; two sisters; and four brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Rushville with the Rev. Todd Riebe officiating. Burial will follow in Orange North Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Todd Funeral Home in Rushville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Seaton Catholic Schools, 233 S. Fifth St., Richmond, IN 47374
