Mildred Louise Kemp, 86, of Palmdale, Calif. and formerly of Rushville, died Wednesday, May 7, 2008.
Born May 31, 1921 in Hope, she was the daughter of Clifford and Ethel (Linke) Misner, both deceased.
Mrs. Kemp lived most of her life in Rush County. She worked at Rushville Furniture Factory for many years, was a foster grandparent at Rushville Elementary School for 18 years and attended First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir.
Survivors include daughters, Eva White of California and Cathy (Don) Jacobs, both of California; sons, Richard (Wanda) Chandler of California, Mike Chandler of Rushville and Doyle (Paula) Chandler of Spiceland; stepdaughters, Ioha Kirkendall of Rushville and Morlene Brooks of Arizona; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Richard (Barbara) Boyd of Columbus.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Kemp, who died in 1988.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Southern Baptist Church in Rushville with the Rev. Jeff Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Rushville’s East Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
